ZIWA INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT KICKS OFF AS TOWNSHIP STATUS NEARS.

The County Executive Committee Member in charge of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development Eng Nelson Maritim has lauded the technical team undertaking infrastructure Development plans for improvement of Ziwa trading Centre in a bid to upgrade it into a Township.

While on a visit to the sites meant for Road tarmacking and establishment of the Town Manager’s Offices, Eng. Maritim said that the need to upgrade the trading center was timely and beneficial to the residents economic stimulus.

We intend to start the new tarmac road in a loop around the Township which is one of the major conditions that must be met before upgrade to Township that will also enable us access urban support fundings. The town Managers office will essentially provide the public with services closer home. The offices will accommodate the town manager as well us crucial offices such as Agriculture, Trade , water and health among others,” said Eng. Maritim

Director Physical Planning and Urban Development Planner Daniel Koech, noted that the establishment of the Township will boost the infrastructure growth in the area to make Ziwa a vibrant business center.

While hosting the CECM in her office Assistant County Commissioner, Mrs Anderson Fridah, said that such projects will transform the mind sets of the people and make them think of entrepreneurship as a source of income. She also appreciated the cordial relationship between the county government and the National Government in the area.

Most civil servants drawn from the National and County Governments, working within Ziwa reside in Eldoret estates. If the projects are started; am positive, investors will bring forth residential business to accomodate the rising employees,” she noted.

According to Eng. Linus Yego the Deputy Director Roads, the tarmac road will have several culverts to each plot with approximate of 75ml, improved sub grade of 300ml,
The sub grade will be improved with cement, and a 150m anchored surface.

Eng. Maritim assured the team that his department was ready and had funds for the project hence should commence immediately.
