With the Governor’s zeal to prioritise water provision to every household in Uasin Gishu County as top agenda, the plan continues to attract stakeholders whose entry will certainly catalize the noble move.
On Monday, a USAID program team;Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Finance (WASH-FIN) paid a courtesy visit to Uasin Gishu, with an aim of helping in providing advise on water supply problems, in hand to financial aspects.
Governor Jackson Mandago’s administration has purposed to connect at least 85 percent of households to piped water, in a charged campaign dubbed “last pipe connectivity”. The Governor says “Every one either in urban or in the village will be bathing while standing.”
And speaking during a courtesy visit to H.E Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno’s office on Monday, Ms Barbara Kazimbaya-Senkwe, African Coordinator to the Programme, noted the organizations’ attraction to Uasin Gishu, noting that they are highly committed to helping in terms of advise through identifying the best financial service providers, which will reduce the cost of establishing projects.
On this matter, the Deputy Governor appreciated the organization’s call saying they have come at the time when the second term’s development bandwagon is ready to set off.
“We admit that we have water deficiency, but we assure you that before the end of our term, the entire County will have water. We are highly Commited and we will deliver”, said the DG.
Also speaking at the meeting, County Executive in charge of Water, Ms Mary Njogu, noted the County’s cooperation with ELDOWAS, saying that WASH-FIN’s entrance to financial advise on the utility will highly improve the delivery of water.
“We have a lot of plans to the people of Uasin Gishu and among these plans is to expand water resources which will help us achieve one of our key agendas for this term”, said Njogu.
Giving his remarks, Water and Environment Chief Officer Mr. Simeon Kemei highlighted that the department will largely work with WASH-FIN to ensure the collaboration brings forth good tidings in water provision.
