Residents have been urged to embrace culture as a way of promoting cohesion and diversity.
This was said on Thursday by Chief Officer in charge of Education and Culture Jane Njuguna as she led in officiating a workshop that brought in-group leaders from all cultural and music groups from the County.
She commended them for the efforts they are making in ensuring that there is peace and cohesion, this through music, cultural performances that has seen several groups converge to celebrate and share ideas.
She further called on the teams to put efforts in the coming competitions that will be held later this year, urging them to perform better than the last competitions which they emerged second-best nationally.
We are so proud of what you are doing as you celebrate our culture. This has been displayed on your beautiful performances in the national platforms, keep it up,” commended the Chief Officer.
On his part, Culture Director Mohamed Dakane affirmed that the County will strive hard to emerge the best this year’s fete that will be held in Siaya, this owing to the preparedness of all the teams.
He further noted that the County will later this year organize a massive Cultural event dubbed Sisibo Cultural festival that will incorporate all cultures including Nubians, Somalis and Indians. This he said will help in learning and appreciation of other cultures.
Culture is what makes us and we ought to embrace it in order for us to appreciate one another and live in cohesion. Let us lift ourselves through our respective cultures and perfomances”, said Dakane.
The workshop incorporated trainers who took the leaders through various techniques and rules that will guide them in the subsequent competitions that will be held in November.
