The County Government through the Department of Health Services is committed to making Uasin Gishu County a TB free Zone.
These were the sentiments of Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor H.E Daniel Chemno who said that TB is an airborne killer disease that has to be defeated by all means.
The Deputy County Boss while leading world TB Day celebrations at Chembulet Health Centre, disclosed that the County’s administration was working hand in hand with other development partners to eradicate the air-bone infection and urged members of the public to always watch out for the symptoms in order to curb the spread.
On her part, the County CECM in charge of Health Services Dr. Everlyne Rotich urged residents to get out and get tested adding that diagnosis and treatment are done free of charge in 65 health facilities spread across the county.
She further challenged residents to be cautious when they come across any signs and symptoms of any disease including TB and quickly seek a diagnosis.
The Chief Officer of Health Services Dr. Joseph Morogo said that residents should seek to acquire health insurance; The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) since it eases the burden of medical expenses in the event of an illness.
The medic also challenged health workers in the entire county-owned facilities to come out too and be tested for TB citing that the environment they work in exposes them to great dangers.
Other partners including Ampath, MTRH and Neighbours in Action attended the event themed “The Clock is ticking” which conveys the sense that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.
