After last year’s MOU signed between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and UAP old mutual group, the Uasin Gishu District Hospital will benefit from a refurbishment at a cost of Ksh10.9m.
This agreement was reached on Wednesday at the County Headquarters when a delegation from UAP and a contractor met with the project technical team during the handing over of the facility.
The estimated twelve weeks work will see renovation of the old serving hospital’s laboratory and the maternity wing complete.
The hospital’s laboratory and the maternity had been left with dilapidated structures for long time due to claims of some interested parties over ownership.
During the signing of the MOU,Deputy Governor H.E Daniel Chemno noted that the claims of ownership issues was a matter that was in the courts and therefore no one should raise questions as that could be treated as prejudicing the same.
Chief Officer Health Services Wilson Kemei who is also the chair of the project technical team said it was a new dawn for the County residents since the facility will become the County’s laboratory diagnostic centre after renovation.
“You have the County’s full support and we are assuring you of maximum security the moment you kick start the work ” said Mr. Kemei.
“We are also looking forward to seeing quality work at the end of the project. H.E governor Jackson Mandago doesn’t entertain shoddy work” added Kemei
According to the UAP’s Regional Director Daniel Mwangi, the partnership is a great deal for the County residents since after renovation there will be a good environment for patients seeking medical services.
“Apart from renovation of the two major areas, we will also give priority to staff toilets as well as the doctors and nurses boardrooms” said Mwangi.
