With the increased cases of COVID-19 in the County and the County at large, CECM ICT, Trade and Industrialization Dr. Emily Kogos on Wednesday toured Wholesale, Hawkers and Kahoya markets to check on the adherence of COVID-19 protocols.
Speaking during the tour, Dr Kogos challenged the traders to follow the COVID-19 protocols as set out by the Ministry of Health to help suppress the spread of the virus.
Let us follow these set rules because it is for our good. We don’t want to see people being forced but rather let’s make it a personal initiative,” said Dr Kogos.
Huruma Ward Member of County Assembly Hon. Lucy Chomba who accompanied the CECM assured the Department of working together to see the Kahoya market put into utilization to reduce the congestion in other markets.
The Director in charge of Trade Kipleting Mengich said that the pandemic has affected the market operations across the county, therefore calling traders to continue with their operations while adhering to the pandemic guidelines.
