The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the department of ICT and E-Government on Tuesday subjected the County Executive Members, Chief Officers and Directors from all departments on a sensitization program on the use of County systems.
The systems include the jobs portal responsible for all job applications, the HMIS for the management of hospitals, the revenue system for all revenue collection streams in the county, the Geographical Information System (GIS)for mapping all County resources for decision making and planning and the mail system for official communication purposes.
The ICT system is also divided into sections such as System Administration,
Capacity Building section and the
Geographical Information System section.
According to the County Executive for ICT Dr. Emily Kogos, there was a need to convene a meeting to pool ideas that will improve how the Government communicates with Wananchi.
“The world is currently digital…everything is captured and stored on the internet and therefore we need to have our website and other systems fed with every useful information that Wananchi, as well as our staff, requires.” Said Dr. Kogos.
Uasin Gishu County Government boasts of being amongst the first Counties in the republic to digitize nearly all her services.
Some of the services already digitized are; parking payment(where it is done on phone at any place), some of its facilities have gone paperless through the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), License application is done at the Sub County level without visiting the headquarters and improved jobs application portal where applicants are notified by a short message on the status of their applications.
This has been made possible by the County’s state of the art data centre that has seen a smooth transition from analogue to digitized services.
