THE ONGOING CONSTRUCTION WORKS OF KIPKENYO DUMPSITE

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has embarked on the activities of expansion and upgrading of the main Kipkenyo dumpsite in order to transit to a modern environmentally friendly site and adhere to the recommendations of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).

The Environment Chief Officer Mr. Simion Kemei accompanied by Managing Director ELDOWAS Dr. Paul Murgor and the Eldoret Municipality Manager Mr. Tito Koiyet on Thursday visited the site for inspection of the ongoing works.

The exercise aims at expanding the landfill through the acquisition of more land, upgrading of the road to the dumpsite to ease access to the landfill, and fencing with a non-permeable wall to prevent waste leakage.

Earlier on, the Chief Officer toured the highway (A104) to check on the ongoing Kazi mtaani works on the beautification of the highway.
