THANKS GIVING SERVICE

Cooperative Societies doing their business in Uasin Gishu have been challenged to cultivate a culture of honesty and sincerity in their day to day undertakings.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service for Kurur Women Cooperative and Savings Society in Ziwa Ward, acting Cooperatives Chief Officer Isaack Lagat said that the worst enemy of cooperatives societies in the country was insincerity amongst the leaders. While praising Kurur Women Cooperatives and Savings Society for providing leadership in the sector, he also challenged the women group to continue working together saying that that was the only way of improving livelihoods.

Kurur Women Cooperative Society has been in existence for 36 years. The group used the thanks giving service to give their tides to respective churches where the members come from and awarded gifts and presents to their senior members.

Mr Lagat commended the group for their development record.

“I wish to thank this group for proving that one can get a loan and repay within the stipulated or even less time” Said the Chief Officer.

“I was amazed when I received news that Kurur Women Cooperatives Society have cleared the loan we gave them January this year” Added Mr. Lagat.

He said that the group has benefited from Ksh 4 Million first loan and Ksh. 3 Million second loan both of which they repaid in 2 Months from the time the loans were disbursed.

Emily Boit the societie’s Chair person could not hide her joy saying that the cooperatives department have indeed given them an helping hand at hour of need.

“Kurur Society will forever be grateful to the County Government of Uasin Gishu under the leadership of Governor Jackson Mandago for creating a loan product for cooperatives” noted the chairlady.

She challenged the youths to join cooperatives so as to benefit from various loan products from the County Government of Uasin Gishu as well as the National Government.

The group owns a one storey commercial and residential building, a grain store and a petrol station in Ziwa township in Uasin Gishu County.
