Governor Jackson Mandago, EGH has called for cooperation between county executives and their assemblies.
Speaking as he hosted his Vihiga counterpart Dr. Wilber Otichilo at his office, Mandago said that there has been good working relationships between the two arms of devolved government.
“It is good when the two arms work together, a smooth working relationship ensures the development agenda is spelt out in the spirit of devolution is progressed,” said Mandago.
Dr Otichilo had called on the Uasin Gishu Governor alongside his Deputy and Assembly Deputy Speaker.
“The fact that the two arms of Vihiga County Government are represented here means devotion is steadily growing in all aspects including synergy-wise,” added Governor Mandago during a cordial discussion.
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno who was also in attendance added that devolution can only be strengthened when the executive and assemblies work to advance the common agenda of taking services to the doorsteps of Kenyans.
A number of other issues were delved into, including and not limited to, accountability in government, hard work amongst public servants, strengthening of regional trade blocs among many others.
“It is crucial for government officers to work hard in service, and your efforts will not go unrewarded, who knows maybe you shall advance to serve your country in top capacities….”
“For instance, my former County Secretary is the CEO of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee, what I mean is hard work and dedication is always rewarded,” Mandago added.
Ag. County Secretary Edwin Bett and Chief Of Staff Paul Lagat hosted the delegation and other county’s senior staff present.
The Vihiga delegation also had CECs, COs and other staff drawn from both the executive and the legislature.
