SO HELP US GOD…
H.Es Governor Jackson Mandago and Deputy Daniel Chemno today took oath to serve Uasin Gishu County as Governor and Deputy for another five years.
Tens of thousands thronged the Eldoret Sports Club-which proved small during the event- to witness the two leaders taking the oath of office.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Gladys Shollei and Margaret Kamar (the Women Rep and Senator elect) and a number of leaders attended the ceremony presided over by Lady Justice Ruth Sitati.
H.E Mandago thanked the electorate for maintaining peace and showing the world that Uasin Gishu is calm.
The County Chief noted that he will fulfill all the promises he made during his campaigns, noting that Uasin Gishu will be a model County by the end of this term.
H.E Mandago called on the electorate to support the elected leaders “for all of us to realize development.”
Soon after being sworn in and awarded the flag and seal, Mandago inspected a guard of honour as County Askaris saluted the County Head.
In a speech read on his behalf by County Commissioner Mr Abdi Hassan, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri attested that Uasin Gishu has made great steps in growing the spirit of devolution and wished Mandago and Chemno the best in their second term.
Mr Hassan on his part urged residents to maintain peace even as the Supreme Court is set to deliver the verdict of the presidential petition case before it.
