Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has echoed Governor Jackson Mandago’s words that county assemblies are key in developing sports in the grassroots.
Kenya’s second in command spoke at Eldoret National polytechnic, Monday, when he officially opened the second edition of County Assembly Sports Association which is set to be held in Uasin Gishu County for the next one week.
I want to congratulate MCAs for enacting laws and passing bills that ensure the development of sports at the grassroots.”, DP said
Ruto said that county assemblies have done a commendable job in the last seven years of existence.
Mandago on his part welcomed the participating teams and assured them of the best of hospitality while urging competitors to use the competition to build good relations.
If we encourage such competion between counties, government institutions as well as neighbouring counties we shall improve our working relations will be better”, Mandago said.
The host speaker David Kiplagat also urged the participants to sample local tourist attractions, culture and business opportunities.
Other leaders present during the official opening include Uganda’s Minister of Kampala Metropolitan City Region Benna Namugwanya, Kimilili MP Didimus Baraza as wells as several speakers and clerks from participating county assemblies.
Prior to CASA official kick-off ceremony the DP officially opened Eldoret National Polytechnic’s new Science Laboratory.
The games are set to commence from 1- 8 October 2019 bringing together teams from all 47 county assemblies.
