The County Government of Uasin Gishu is set to increase revenue collection from street parking fees. The department of ICT has acquired 30 smartphones which will be used for verification purposes.
Speaking while handing over the phones to the relevant officers, Ag. Chief Officer ICT Mr. Titus Kimaiyo said that the officers’ work of checking issues of compliance will be eased.
Mr. Kimaiyo also said that all non-compliant motorists will be cornered as the officers on the ground have been empowered with the mobile phones which can retain charge for more than three days.
The phones, according to the IT Guru have been installed with UG pay android application and one-month internet data will be given to the officers in the field.
“This will put to an end the tradition of officers having to use their own phones while verifying clients’ vehicles. This was a setback since the government had no control of the private phone usage,” said the ICT Expert.
Other County officials present during the handing over ceremony were Ms. Elizabeth Birgen, the Ag. ICT Director, Mr. Jeremiah Kiprop, Ag. Principal accountant and Mr. David Meli, the deputy principal accountant.
