Uasin Gishu residents have been challenged to plant more trees in their households in order to conserve and protect the environment.
Speaking at Turbo Cultural Centre while leading the tree planting exercise, Labour Principal Secretary Eng. Peter Tum urged the residents to nurture trees to maturity and ensure that they are planted in respective compounds.
He said that the aim of the government is to propagate and ensure that forest cover has been increased to 10 % from 5 %.
On his part Education, CECM Joseph Kurgat echoed the PS’s words saying that there was a need to conserve the environment by planting more trees to mitigate effects of climate change.
Other notable County officials present include Area Member of County Assembly Hon. Samwel Choge, Water and Environment Chief Officer Mr Simon Kemei and Turbo Sub-County Administrator, Mr Wilson Sawe.
