Kesses Subcounty residents have applauded the Governor H. E Jackson K. Mandago for the extensive road works in the sub-county.
Tulwet Chuiyat ward residents are a happy lot following the Governor’s new year’s resolve to change the face of the ward’s roads.
While on an impromptu site visit in Bindura location where road opening and graveling was going on, the governor said graveling work would be done to perfection and poor roads would be a thing of the past to the wananchi. He emphasized the need for Engineers, plant operators and all staff on the ground to speed up the work while also ensuring quality roads are delivered.
I want to see all the necessary machineries on the ground so that this work is delivered on time to enable us to move to other sub-counties during this dry season,” said H. E Mandago.
While addressing the officers doing the road works, the governor noted that road drainage is absolutely vital.
” A road with proper drainage will last longer and requires less maintenance,” he noted.
The governor took his time to explain to the team how a properly shaped crown and shoulder of the road is key in ensuring the smooth flow of water.
The culverts and drains should be placed well, the right size of culverts is important too, as all these are responsible for channeling water away from the road surface.
We have specialized grading and compacting equipment and ideally, what we want as a final product is a smooth, uniform surface that can handle heavy loads and harsh weather without breaking up, ” added Mandago
Chief officer for the Department of Roads, Transport, Energy and Public works Eng. Barnabas Too, asked the team to ensure there is a corporation carrying out the road works.
Teamwork is essential as we carry on. As a department, we are all here to see that the work is done to precision,” said Eng. Too
Mzee Shadrack Mutai a resident of Tulwet Chuiyat ward, thanked the Governor for opening up the road saying that these would boost the wards economic growth, as they would be able to deliver their farm produce easily to the market.
I have never seen such kind of work done in our ward. Thank you Mandago for the roadworks that you have done. The materials and machinery on site are exceptional,” said Mr. Mutai.
Joining H. E Mandago on the site were MCA Tulwet Chuiyat ward Hon. Julius Songok, Director of Roads, Eng. Linus Yego, Area ward admin Susan Kisorio, kesses sub-county roads engineer, Eng. Judy Biwot among other officers.
