Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor H. E Hon Daniel Chemno has disclosed that major public utilities in the region will soon get internet connection once the ICT Authority implements fiber optic cable connectivity from Eldoret to Nadapal in South Sudan.
Speaking during a consultative forum with Officials from the ICT Authority, the Deputy Governor said that in this information age, Internet connectivity is key for service delivery in all government offices.
He said that the project will not only help in linking the public utilities but also will be a breather to the jobless young men and women who are set to benefit with job opportunities that come along with the implementation of the project.
The DG praised the consultative meeting citing that contractors doing the work will be guided on places where another important infrastructure such as water pipes has been installed thus reducing collision that causes a delay in completion of projects.
On his part, the County Secretary Mr. Edwin Bett asked the contractors to involve the residents in the implementation of the projects so as to enjoy their goodwill.
He called upon the project coordinator to ensure that local administrators have been sensitized on the benefits of the installations.
On the other hand, Ag. Chief Officer ICT Mr. Titus Kimaiyo lauded the partnership with the state corporation.
