The Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, Tourism and Wildlife Management led by CECM Mary Njogu on Wednesday held a meeting with Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) together with officials from Municipality of Norrköping.
The meeting aimed at strategizing ways of managing solid waste within the County in a way that all the stakeholders and the residents are comfortable with.
” As we take over on garbage collection, ELDOWAS will roll out a pilot program in some selected areas and if the project is viable, we extend the project to other zones of the county,” Said Dr Paul Murgor, MD ELDOWAS.
On his part, Mr Anders from Norrkoping Municipality noted that densely populated areas are likely to have two or three garbage collection trucks while in remote areas only one can manage.
He further added that the use of modern trucks will bring great efficiency and ease of use to customers while lowering the time of garbage collection.
Other matters discussed included the billing model, public awareness and sensitization activities.
Present in the meeting was the Chief Officer Water Mr. Simeon Kemei, ELDOWAS Head of Technical Services Jimmy Kemboi, Head of Commercial services Timothy Bett, Head of Financial services Stephen Psiwa, Ag Director Communication Faith Seroney, Director Water Joseph Chelulei.
The County Government of Uasin Gishu is partnering with Norrkoping Municipality to improve the management of solid waste in Eldoret town and it’s environs.
