Local Physical and Land Use Development Plans pose as a solution to resolve planning challenges in fast-growing urban centres.
This will provide a framework for addressing challenges in upcoming uncontrolled development, high rate of subdivision of Agricultural farms, unplanned residential neighbourhoods and help in the control of more strain in existing infrastructural facilities and services.
Chief officer for Physical Planning and Urban Development Mr Kenneth Mbeka while addressing the contractor undertaking the Local Physical Plan at Nyalilbey and Chepkurmum trading centres; said the plans will guide land use, enhance connectivity, manage growth and provision of services to the residents while maintaining a health urban-rural balance.
“Nyalilbei and Chepkurmum trading centres are among the fastest-growing urban centres hence the need to have the plans soonest possible to help in mitigation of upcoming and undesirable urban growth forms in the centres.
We expect the project to be completed within 6 months where all aspects are undertaken in detail,” said Mr. Mbeka.
Director Physical Planning Mr Daniel Koech emphasized the need for incorporation of all professionals necessary including surveyors while undertaking the data collection, analysis and interpretation.
