NATIONAL,COUNTY AND AGRICULTURE STAKEHOLDERS MEET TO DISCUSS MARKET SOLUTION FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE

The State Department of Crop Development and Agricultural Research on Thursday engaged The County Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries together with Agriculture stakeholders in a public participation on national agriculture marketing strategy 2021-2030 which is set to address challenges affecting marketing of agricultural produces.

The challenges highlighted include post-harvest losses, low value-addition of agricultural commodities among others.

According to County Deputy Director, Agriculture Ismael Asowa, the strategy paper upon implementation is set to see farmers and producers across the county benefit.

“This document is going to address close to 80% of challenges that affect the agricultural market” said Asowa

He also added that the department of Agriculture will discuss further how such challenges can be addressed for the county farmers to reap more from the agricultural practice.

Sellyne Bonyo who led the national team said that they are ready to adopt views from stakeholders on how to better the sector for economic gain.

“We have the farmers interest at hand that is why we have come so that you give us views on possible ways that can better this sector” said Bonyo
