MORE FARMERS IN UASIN GISHU EMBRACE COFFEE FARMING AS EXTENSION OFFICERS OFFER FREE AGRONOMIC KNOWLEDGE

In a routine program to assess the progress of coffee farmers and educate new farmers on coffee planting, Uasin Gishu County Agricultural Officers visited Mr. Samson Cherotich, a farmer in plateau who through his own initiative is on the process of planting coffee on 25 acres of land.

The County Coffee Officer Nicholas Maritim speaking during the tour said that Cherotich has already shown the commitment to succeeding as a large scale farmer and they will continue offering technical knowledge to empower him and many other farmers who have shown interest.

According to Maritim, the county has so far distributed over 397,897 Coffee Seedlings and a total of 1275 farmers have embraced coffee farming.

He urged new farmers who are planning to venture into coffee farming to seek advice from the county extension officers in every ward for more information.
