The future of Uasin Gishu’s cereal farmer lies in the success and sustainability of Moisoy Milling Plant, Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has said.
He spoke Thursday, at the miller’s headquarters in Merewet, Moiben Sub-county where delegates drawn from the 52 Co-operative societies making Moisoy Co-operative Union met for their second Annual General Meeting.
We urge our farmers to continue supporting this venture because it will earn them direct benefit from value addition while guaranteeing a market for their goods”, Chemno said.
Esther Mutai, CECM for Co-operative & Enterprise Development thanked farmers for their unwavering support and diligence in loan repayments.
When you buy shares and pay your loans on time you give lenders confidence in supporting your enterprise”, CECM Mutai said.
The Union’s chair Belfast Mutai , also present asked farmers who are not members of the union to sign up by buying shares.
Moisoy Milling plant is at 65% percent completion awaiting arrival of milling machines and storage silos. The project is expected to operationalize by September 2021.
