MANDAGO SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIA TO ENHANCE SERVICE TVET SKILLS, HEALTH SERVICES

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago EGH, on Friday hosted Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Shri Virander Kumar Paul who paid him a courtesy call at the County Headquarters in Eldoret town.

Speaking to the press after a closed-door meeting, Mandago hailed the support that India has had to various projects in the region, dating back to the 1990’s.

He named Rift Valley Textile Company (RIVATEX) as one of the major areas that has been transformed thanks to the support of the Indian government.

Mandago further expressed his intention to seek further partnership in technical training so as to boost the manufacturing and industry. 

As a county we acknowledge India among leading countries when it comes to technical training. We have TVET institutions that we shall be seeking partnership to help increase skills level and help us move to manufacturing and industrial age, Mandago said.

The Governor also noted that as Uasin Gishu is now becoming an alternative medical hub in the country aside from Nairobi, there is need to enhance specialized skilled personnel in the Health sector.

We shall be looking at enhancing collaboration with Moi University, MTRH and county facilities on how to transfer specialized services to help lower cost of medical services, said the county boss.

On his part, the Indian envoy named RIVATEX support as a shining example on how partnerships can help the communities improve in key sectors.

Manufacturing and skills development are some of the many areas that can be looked at in the field of health care. We look forward to many engagement in this region, noted Amb. Kumar

There are a series of areas we are focusing and this meeting and many others we have planned in the region gives us confidence to continue supporting them, he added.
