Appeals for peace dominated speech when Deputy Governor H.E Daniel Chemno led Uasin Gishu County’s Madaraka Day Celebration at Eldoret 64 Stadium.

Calls for peace and cohesion during this electioneering period dotted speeches with leaders and general public appealing for tolerance.

After delivering a speech on behalf of H.E Governor Jackson Mandago, H.E Chemno said the County had alot to celebrate about.

He cited the milestone projects undertaken by the County Government of Uasin Gishu in the four years (the county government) held the staff of reign.

“In addition to celebrating Kenya’s self rule, we as a county, also take the chance to celebrate how the lives of our people have changed owing to a good leadership.”

“We have made giant development steps in all departments, in agriculture rolling out Inua Mama na Kuku and Kijana na Acre and other initiatives”

“Over 80 percent of households in this county now have access to clean water. Sinking over 50 boreholes and building several dams have come in handy to succeed this fact.”

Chemno added: “We have made all our roads motor able all year round. We have sponsored and brought up 1800 engineers through our scholarship program at RVTTI.”

“Also, because we cannot exhaust the list of projects that has changed the livelihoods, we cannot forget to mention that we have created a good environment for investment.

“World Bank has ranked us second in two surveys, including the most improved and investor friendly county.”

H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech was delivered by Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan. Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon Hoseah Lamai and a number of MCAs were in attendance.
