The County Government of Uasin Gishu in collaboration with Kenya Technical Training institute (KTTC) has today completed a two day interview to students who will be sponsored to undertake Diploma studies in Technical Teacher Education at the collage beginning May this year.

Speaking at the end of the exercise in her office, Youth and Sports Chief Officer Eunice Kerich said that the County Government will sponsor successful applicants in respective areas of specialization in the County revolving fund.

She also said that the scholarship will cater tuition and examination fee after which the students will be required to pay after the studies.

She said that the interview process was majorly interviewing the candidates on suitability to teach in the Technical and vocational colleges.

“We received many applicants but we shortlisted 117 based on the qualification they had, we shall sponsor 100 of the interviewed candidates” Said the Chief Officer.

She added that the interviewing panel consisted of representatives from Kenya Technical Training Collage, officials from youth Department, Sub County and some Ward Administrators.

“The college will take all the forms and score sheets from the interviewed candidates for sorting and subsequently issue calling letters to successful candidates” added Kerich.

On their part, officials from the College commended County Government of Uasin Gishu for coming up with idea saying it was timely. “I wish to commend the County Government of Uasin Gishu for this noble idea” said one of the officials from the college.

They added that according to their medium term program the college is set to open three campuses one being in Ainabkoi Sub County Uasin Gishu County move that was welcomed by Chief Officer Kerich.

“We welcome the idea of you setting up a campus within our jurisdiction. You can begin here as you think of putting the other two” Posed Kerich.

The tutors from the college said that they were impressed by the passion the candidates had in the technical areas.

The County Government of Uasin Gishu sponsors students undertaking Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering.
