Maternal health services in Uasin Gishu County is set to be improved after the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) donated medical equipment worth sh12.9 million.
The equipment which was bought through the global fund will be distributed to over 50 health facilities across the county.
Speaking on Tuesday at the county headquarters in Eldoret town during the flagging off of the equipment, Kenya Red cross society governor Dr. Mohamud Said expressed their commitment to working with counties in improving livelihoods.
“The equipment will go to health facilities especially labour wards to assist in saving lives by handling emergencies,” noted Dr. Said.
“We are also looking forward to signing an MoU with the County Government of Uasin Gishu so as to partner in several sectors among them Health, Agriculture and even training some of the staff on matters disaster management” he added.
Governor Uasin Gishu County H.E Jackson Mandago while flagging off the equipment promised to continue supporting the Kenya Red cross initiatives.
“We appreciate what you are doing especially in matters of emergency response and disaster preparedness as a county as well as the North Rift Economic Block (NOREB) we will support and work with you in all aspects meant to help the common mwananchi,” Mandago, who is also the NOREB chairman said.
Present also was the County Executive in charge of Health services Mrs Margaret Chepkwony and the County Director for Preventive and Promotive Services Dr.Evans Kiprotich.
