Cooperatives and Enterprise Development CECM Ms. Esther Mutai together with her Agriculture Counterpart Mr. Samuel Yego on Thursday morning led other stakeholders in receiving the first delivery of milk to Kaplesa Dairy Cooperatives Society milk cooler that was constructed by the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
Speaking during the early morning event Ms. Mutai noted that co-operative movement was the only way of immersing wealth together as a community.
She noted that the Enterprise Fund was established to inject more capital to struggling and well-established Cooperatives societies.
Ms. Mutai asked the young generation to be aggressive in looking for money, citing MoiSoy Milling Plant as one way of guaranteeing future generation safety.
The CEC further emphasized the need for farmers to buy individual shares in the ambitious multi-million maize milling plant, MoiSoy.
Agriculture CEC asked farmers to be keen on what their animals eat as that was vital in dairy farming, he further asked New Kcc to pay farmers on time to meet their obligation and get motivated.
I want to ask you New KCC, pay these farmers on time…. Increase milk prices when the market is good.” Mr. Yego noted.
“We have enough machinery to support the farmers at all cost,” Added Yego.
On MoiSoy, Mr. Yego asked farmers to buy individual shares to increase working capital for the investment.
Livestock development Chief Officer Dr. Victoria Tarus asked farmers to use recommended containers while delivering milk as this was key in dairy farming.
She challenged cooperative societies to keep proper records of their in investment to gauge their business performance.
On his part County Enterprise Development Fund Director, Mr. Isaack Lagat who was present challenged the Cooperative society members to channel all their milk through their society to build the bank statement.
Kaplesa Cooperatives Society thanked the County Government of Uasin Gishu for supporting them.
