Uasin Gishu county youths have been challenged to move out of their way and scout for jobs through the internet.
Zilpher Owiti, the head of capacity, ICT Authority (ICTA) from the Ministry of ICT challenged the youth when she facilitated the ongoing county ICT training on Ajira Digital Skills in Waunifor,Cheplasgei, and Kapteldet ICT centres.
Owiti emphasized on the need for the youth to come out in large numbers for the Ajira training as it will equip them with skills in accessing online job opportunities.
She said many countries among them Kenya, have realized the scarcity of jobs and the need to adopt the internet is paramount.
You are privileged with the county ICT centres in every sub-county and with free internet. Utilize them by searching many things you can do online to earn a living” said Owiti
“…be the champions of these ICT centres and by so doing, ensure as well you embrace entrepreneurial skills” she added
The ICT and e-Government Chief Officer John Kemboi and his director Titus Kimaiyo maintained that the training is targeting the jobless youth so that they can engage themselves with serious activities that can see them earn a living.
As you are being taught how to create online accounts, make use of them since opportunities are always online,” said Kemboi
From the previous training, a number of youths who turned up for the training narrated how they have benefitted from the program, giving motivational grounds to some of the starters.
The long week training will come to a close tomorrow.
