Uasin Gishu department of Health Services on Monday joined hands with the rest of the World to commemorate International Epilepsy Day . This day is observed every second Monday of February. It was started and organized by the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). IBE and ILAE are the two Epilepsy Non-Governmental Organizations in official relation with WHO.
International Epilepsy Day is a special event which promotes awareness on Epilepsy in more than 120 Countries each year.
The CECM Health services Mrs.Everlyne Rotich accompanied by the Executive in charge of Education noted that the department of Health Services of Uasin Gishu County is here to help people living with seizures dare to live to their fullest potential.
The department has been able to offer access to free medical services ,employment, wheel chair support and rehabilitation services to People Living with Disability.
“International Epilepsy Day is an opportunity to raise awareness on Epilepsy, what it is, how it can be treated, and what is needed to bring treatment to all people who need it,”said Mrs.Rotich.
The commemoration also brought on board the Director Promotive and Preventive services Dr.Evans Kiprotich and the Director Nursing Mrs.Esther Serem.
