INSPECTION OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION MOTORBIKES FOR EFFECTIVE FARMERS SERVICE DELIVERY

The County Government Of Uasin Gishu, Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries today inspected County Extension motorbikes at TAC centre and thereafter held a management meeting at the County Hall to strengthen Agricultural Extension services using data capturing tools. Today, 26 motorbikes were inspected by the mechanical team from the Department of Roads Public works and a representative from Toyota Kenya.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor HE. Hon Daniel Chemno challenged the Extension officers to be passionate with their work urging them to be in the forefront and act as role models in the adoption of the diversification of promotional crops as this will ensure that the new generation will be attracted to Agriculture. He implored upon the extension staff to be professional in their work.

Going forward Agriculture will remain a critical area of investment in Uasin-Gishu County. Already 120 youth groups are lined up to benefit from youth in Agribusiness project among other projects”. said Chemno.

On his part, the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr Samuel Yego encouraged officers to be ahead of the farmers and readily available when their services are needed.

Chief officer for agriculture Julius Rotich, Director Wilbur Mutai, Transport Officer Mr Stanley Kosgei among other officers attended the meeting.
