FINANCE CECM PRESENTS UASIN GISHU BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS AT THE COUNTY ASSEMBLY

Finance and Economic Planning County Executive, Micah Rogony, on Tuesday tabled the County Budget Estimates for the financial year 2023/2023 to the County Assembly.

The CECM, while tabling the statement, gave a highlight of the budget he said (the document) has been aligned with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelili’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto.

He presented the Ksh 9.8 billion budget, out of which the county expects to receive Ksh 8.4 billion from the shareable equitable revenue from the National Government, and Ksh 1.2 billion from local revenue.

A further Ksh 278 million is expected to be from conditional grants.

The health department will get the lion’s share of the budget with a proposed allocation of Ksh 2.5 billion.

Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Administration are other departments with the highest allocations.

Ksh 1.3 billion has been allocated to the Department of Agriculture, Ksh 1.2 billion (Education) and Ksh 1.9 billion for Roads, Clean Water and ICT.

The Finance CECM also gave details of how the county intents to enhance on-source revenue collection.

Those who accompanied the CECM to the Assembly include counterparts Eng. Joseph Lagat (Roads), Antony Sitienei (Lands) and Sports’ Eng Lucy Ng’endo, Chief Officers Victorine Kapkiai (Economic Planning), Eliud Chemaget (Finance) and PSM’s Ambrose Tarus.
