The Municipality of Eldoret, established in 2018 under the Urban Areas and Cities Act of 2011 and mandated to construct and maintain Road Infrastructure within the municipality, has kicked off the routine maintenance of road networks within its urban territory.
Inspecting the projects, Municipality Manager, Tito Koiyet, insisted on quality service from the contractors. “The Citizens should get value for their money, so we expect quality materials and good workmanship from you,” said Tito as he addressed the contractor.
Among the projects being undertaken include the West Market – 64 Stadium Road. Works expected are bush clearing, pothole patching and culvert installation. Road markings within the Eldoret Central Business District are some of the works under the program.
Maintenance of non-motorised pedestrian walkways from Mariott to Chepkoilel, and walk paths from Zion Mall to KCC, will encompass cleaning of footpaths, drainage opening and pothole patching will be done.
Bush clearing, drainage repairs and potholes patching and general maintenance works in Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Program (KISIP) roads in Munyaka and Kimumu Estates are included in the exercise. Pothole patching and drainage clearing and repairs will be done in Sosiani Bus Stage (Trucadero). Similar works will be done for Mandago Road, Panvila -Langas and Hillschool Estate Roads.
Maintenance of Eldoret Hospital -Nandi Road, CBD and Cabro Backlanes which requires clearing of drainages, potholes patching and Cabro repairs will be done.
The Municipality of Eldoret, the soon-to-be City is the host of this year’s Devolution Conference which will be held in August.
