COUNTY’S EFFORTS TOWARDS A CLIMATE-RESILIENT FUTURE FOR ITS RESIDENTS

Chief Officer Department of Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Energy, Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, Ms. Mary Kerich, held a meeting with the Ward Administrators and the Taskforce members to go through the Participatory Climate Risk Assessment report and the Climate Change Annual Plan 2023-2027.

The report is presented using seasonal calendars, prioritization tables, and charts. The information is key to understanding the future climate scenarios for the county.

The documents highlight the priority projects to be undertaken to address the hazards identified based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Uasin Gishu County CIDP 2023-2027, and Governor’s manifesto.

The strategies both adaptation and mitigation will help to contain the climate change risks and build resilience among the communities.

Present was the Director Environment and Climate Change Dr. Charles Nyabayo, Sub-County, and Ward Administrators
