Under the visionary leadership of H.E. Governor Jonathan Bii, Uasin Gishu County is rapidly becoming a hub of innovation and development, particularly in the field of sustainable tourism.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Tourism, Martha Cheruto, is spearheading the transformation of Uasin Gishu County into a premier tourist attraction and destination. As part of this grand initiative Nguzo Kumi, CECM Cheruto on Wednesday visited the Sosiani Park, one of the county’s flagship projects under the ambitious “Nguzo Kumi” agenda.
Sosiani Park is a nature park being implemented in phase one and entails the development of a nature walk and beautification which is currently ongoing.
The department has put in strategies to transform tourism by developing tourism products, sosiani being one of them.
Tourism energizes the economy through the creation of employment and contribution to GDP hence under the leadership of H.E Governor Jonathan Bii his administration endeavours to push tourism to another level.
Sosiani Park, nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Uasin Gishu County, is poised to become a haven for nature lovers and a sanctuary for relaxation. During her walk through the park, CECM Martha Cheruto stressed the significance of environmental conservation for long-term sustainability. She passionately advocated for the preservation of the park’s pristine ecosystem, which not only enhances the appeal of Uasin Gishu as a tourist destination but also contributes to the overall well-being of its residents.
CECM Cheruto underscored the unique qualities of Sosiani Park that make it an ideal getaway for both locals and visitors. The park boasts a breathtaking environment, with lush greenery, meandering streams, and diverse species of trees. The development of Sosiani Park aligns with the County Government’s overarching objective of marketing Uasin Gishu as a tourist hotspot. On his part, Chief Officer Trade Mr. Elphas Kesio while on a visit to Sosiani Park, galvanized the County’s efforts in promoting responsible tourism practices. His emphasis on environmental conservation underscores the County Government’s dedication to preserving the park’s natural splendour for generations to come. “By taking a proactive stance on sustainability, Uasin Gishu County sets a commendable example for other regions seeking to balance tourism growth with environmental protection,” said Mr.Kesio.

This comes as Eldoret town elevates into becoming a city and moreso hosting Devolution Conference in August this year.
