COUNTY TO PARTNER EIDU IN DIGITAL LEARNING FOR ECDE LEARNERS; PP1 and PP2

The Department of Education is in the advanced stages to enter an agreement with an International digital firm EIDU in collaboration with Tayari to do a pilot on digital learning in ECDE learners across the County.

The agreement once sealed will see the county and EIDU team up on digital learning programs for PP1 and PP2 learners.

County Executive for Education Dr. Janeth Kosgei on Tuesday met with Clara Ruiz, the senior project lead at EIDU as part of talks for the partnership. “Digital literacy of ECDE learners is one of the projects in our CIDP which is key in improving performance and acquisition of problem-solving skills and competencies focused in CBC curriculum,” says Dr. Janeth.

Speaking during the meeting, the CECM welcomed the partnership with the digital firm which she said will help in improving the quality of education, increase the performance of pupils, improve the learning environment, increase enrollment and retention in school as well as building character and leadership skills in the young minds.

The introduction of digital learning in the ECDEs will improve the learning outcome in the county,” she added.

Dr. Kosgey further noted that the partnership will play a key role in the motivation of teachers, subsequently improving their performance.

Clara Ruiz, the senior project lead at EIDU on her part said their discussions centre on budgetary allocation approved by the Cabinet and County Assembly and how the funds will be used to facilitate digital learning.

The discussions also centred on steps that will follow once the deal is signed with the county. All the materials provided are KICD approved. So far EIDU, digital learning has been rolled out successfully in four counties in Kenya.

“We are waiting for the budget to be approved and once that happens, the negotiation process can start,” Ruiz said.

During the meeting, Chief Officer for Education Ruth Samoei, and Director for Education Shadrack Morogo were in attendance.
