The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change is set to carry out a Participatory Climate Risk Assessment (PCRA) Data collection exercise from 8th May to 12th May 2023 across the County.
Speaking during the final preparatory meeting, Director of Environment and Climate Change, Dr Charles Nyabayo, challenged the task force members to work hand in hand with the ward administrators and the office of the area Member of County Assembly to ensure the process is a success. He further noted the need to use more than two tools of research to increase the accuracy of the data.
On his part, Nicholas Obuya, a facilitator from the German organization, GIZ, insisted on the importance of documentation of the process as well as good preparation.
Facilitate dialogue, and let the residents speak about the climate risks they are facing as a community,” added Obuya.
The activity aims at coming up with a Climate Risk Assessment Report for the County.
The exercise is expected to kick off on Monday in Mois Bridge, Sergoit, Tulwet/Chuiyat, Tarakwa, Ngenyilel, and Langas Wards.
