COUNTY, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RELATIONSHIP KEY IN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH

Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot has disclosed that the County Government of Uasin Gishu has continued to enjoy a good relationship with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Eldoret chapter in terms of building and growing businesses.

Addressing the business community on Thursday at an Eldoret hotel, Barorot said the county is proud of the chamber for its frequent engagements that target improving businesses in the county.

He challenged them to embrace technology in creating businesses that can be managed from any location, pointing out investing in cloud computing as faster, cheaper and more reliable.

As a County, we are also pushing for a lot of things like the establishment of an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) so that it can come to address the issue of unemployment amongst our youths,” said Eng. Barorot.

On his part, KNCCI vice president Dr. Erick Ruto said the chamber is currently strategizing on how to fully exploit the value chains in dairy, beef and leather for the government to actualize the agenda in the broader Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

We are also strategizing on how to make the chamber better in terms of services to members including exhibitions, plans to digitize over 80000 MSME businesses for them to access credit among other benefits,” said Dr Ruto.

Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development CECM, Martha Cheruto, assured the chamber of continued engagements noting that business people are key in enhancing the business environment.
