ELAVATION TO CITY STATUS COMES WITH ITS REQUIREMENTS! PROPERTY OWNERS PREPAREDNESS KEY

Following an enforcement notice gazetted by the Municipality of Eldoret Manager Mr.Tito Koiyet on Buildings Maintenance to all developers, landlords and the general public, the Municipality intends to inspect all Buildings within the CBD an exercise that will be overseen by the Municipality, Public Health officers and various enforcement officers to come up with a status report of the buildings.

While addressing the committee charged with the exercise, Mr. Koiyet noted that the Municipality had given six months to property owners to maintain their Buildings to the requirements put on the notice.

We can only attain order and beauty in our city if we ensure that there are clear standards on outlook of all buildings. The time lapse is now at 2 months and we are notifying all property owners that we will take action as soon as the 6 months period given elapses. We encourage that the buildings be repainted to make our city beautiful. We suggest a cream white wall paint and a green roof with quality paint to ensure that it lasts, ” said Mr. Koiyet.

Director Physical Planning Planner Daniel Koech noted that going forward, all premises that will not adhere to the standards provided will not be cleared for licensing of businesses within them and enhance called on synergy in all departments to carry forth the exercise into success.

Director Lands Ms. Nelly Jerotich noted that there were several parcels of land that are undeveloped and all owners are notified to immediately commence development of the property.

Ms. Beatrice Menjo who is the Director Housing said that every property needed to have a plan on proper garbage disposal to ensure that the streets are maintained well.

In his remarks, Ag. Director Devolution Mr. Kiptanui Barno, said that the enforcement team will also look into drainages around the buildings and that all buildings look into improving the pedestrian walkways.
