COUNTY READY FOR CLIMATE CHANGE RISKS DATA COLLECTION

The Department of Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Energy, Environment and Climate Change on Tuesday held a Data Collection preparatory meeting at an Eldoret hotel.

Leading the technical working group, the Director of Environment and Climate Change, Dr Charles Nyabayo, said that the exercise will run from 8th to 12th May, 2023 across the county. He called on the residents to turn up in large numbers to highlight the climate risks in their regions for them to be captured in the County Climate Change Action Plan (CCCAP).

He further highlighted the need for the team to come up with a guide resource map to act as a template when doing the exercise.

Julius Barno, a member of the Project Implementation Unit from the Treasury, brought the team up to speed on what is expected, saying they are keen on counties meeting the May 31st deadline as he expressed optimism that Uasin Gishu will be among the counties to deliver.

Come up with creative activities on climate change mitigation and adaptation measures,” noted Barno.

Present was the Deputy Director Philip Lagat, Acting Sub-County Administrators, Ward administrators and members of the Climate change technical working group.
