LAND USE  AND PHYSICAL  PLANNING KEY IN COUNTY DEVELOPMENT: KORIR

Chief Officer in charge of Lands and Physical Planning Mr. Nathan Korir has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that forward planning, Development control, approval and implementation of plans is undertaken as required.

In his remarks, Mr. Korir noted that for a while the County Spatial plan that was prepared in 2015, was not approved and hence the need for its revision by the Department to meet current needs and hence is committing to budget and allocate funds for its preparation, noting key importance of Physical Planning for onward information in Development control of trading centres, Townships, Municipality and the City, ” said Mr. Korir

We are keen to ensure that all land issues are handled professionally for the betterment of services to Uasin Gishu County residents. We will also look into safeguarding of all land records that currently stand at over 10,000 in filling, through acquisition of modern day safes , proper equipment for mapping and survey , enhancement of land rates collection, staff capacity building as well as ensure that Land banking process is enhanced through adequate funds allocation.

Director Lands Ms. Nelly Jerotich urged the department team to ensure that they are familiar with the projects and their progress as everyone has a role in its execution and success.

In his remarks, Director Physical Planning, planner Daniel Koech, said that there is a need to give room to research and policy formulation to enhance general planning.

Lands Administrator Mr Sila Boit, appreciated the teamwork exhibited in the Department noting that this was the route to successful delivery of services.
