In ensuring residents get access to quality and efficient service delivery, The County Government of Uasin Gishu has always engaged the residents in collecting their views and opinions on the programs and projects to be implemented.
Speaking on Wednesday in Moisbridge ward during the public participation exercise on 2023/24 Financial Years budget estimates, Finance and Economic Planning Executive Micah Rogony noted that the residents are the major stakeholders in decision making and they have the power in implementation and monitoring of projects.
I want to thank you for turning up for the exercise since it will guide us in areas of prioritization such as markets, industrial parks, affordable housing and water,” said Rogony.
He also called upon the residents to always identify the public utilities for funding and whenever conflict arises on grabbed utilities they can employ various alternative conflict resolution mechanisms.
He further added that according to the Equitable Development Act, they will also engage wananchi in the selection of project identification committees so that all the areas are covered in terms of development.
Economic Planning Chief Officer Victorine Kapkiai noted that Governor Bii is keen on ensuring that residents’ views are captured and implemented therefore calling on them to identify priority areas as captured in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).
Outgoing Chief Officer CPA. Millicent Okonjo noted that the exercise is one of the stages in the budget-making cycle and always attending the participation is key in implementation in every stage. She further advised the residents to develop a chart to mark the prioritized areas as outlined.
Elijah Tanui from Economic Planning and Isaack Kosgei Moisbridge Town Manager were present.
