TRADE DEPARTMENT TO INTRODUCE 360 DEGREES APPROACH ON LICENSES FOR EFFICIENCY

Chief Officer for Trade and Industrialization Elphas Kesio has hinted at plans that will further automate single business permits to realize efficiency in issuance.

Speaking on Tuesday at his office during a meeting with sub-county licensing officers on their progress, Mr. Kesio said he is working to introduce a 360 degrees approach where there will be no contact between licensing officers and revenue streams that have already been mapped.

Taking for example how one gets a service from National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), for you to access it, it takes a very short time and there is no contact between you and the officers, that is our core mandate going forward,” said Kesio.

He added that he will avail necessary infrastructure that will enable officers to deliver as expected of them further acknowledging the efforts depicted by officers in revenue collection despite the challenges they experience while on duty promising to unleash and explore their potential going into the future.

Acting director for Licensing and Compliance Dr. Silas Leting stated, “Our contributions to own source revenue has increased significantly to Ksh 175 million from last year Ksh 130 million, an improvement of around Ksh 40 million, that is to show that we are likely going to surpass the target for this financial year.

Leting further said the Directorate at the beginning of this financial year set a target of Ksh 217 million noting that by holding all other factors constant, a collection of Ksh 230 million by the end of the financial year will be attained.
