In an ongoing countywide program to restock, revive and establish new cattle dips, The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Saturday revived and distributed acaricide to Kapsaos and Kabuson cattle Dips in Kapsaos Ward Turbo Sub-County.
Speaking while representing Governor Jonathan Bii, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe flanked by area MCA Hon. Isack Chepkule together with Livestock Chief Officer Nixon Cheplong urged cattle dip committees to involve the public through public participation regarding the use of the dips and its funds.
He also urged farmers to consider the breeds they keep by upgrading their cows to higher milk-producing and disease-resistant breeds with consideration of the pasture they consume because dairy farming is a lucrative business that is affected by unpredictable weather patterns.
Livestock Chief Officers Mr. Nixon Cheplong encouraged the farmers to make use of the cattle dips adding that the Department has a program to revive all the cattle dips across the county that are not operational.
Cheplong said that the county will continue to support the dips to ensure that every dip is stable.
The cattle dip committees thanked the County Government for its continued support by uplifting their farming activities.
Kapsaos Ward Administrator Mr. Stephen Misoi, Director Veterinary Dr. Philip Biama and County Tick Control Officer Wilson Mwei also attended.
