CO-OP OFFICERS URGED TO ADVISE SOCIETIES ON CEDF IMPORTANCE

Director Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Isaac Lagat has urged Sub County officers to ensure they follow up and advise the Saccos and Co-op Societies on the need of applying for the County Enterprise Development Funds (CEDF) loans for them to benefit by expanding their societies financially.

Speaking on Monday during the training of the officers on credit administration and risk management; loan lending and management, and principles of good lending among other financial areas, Lagat said the CEDF was established to capacity build and fund registered co-op societies in the county for value addition within their various enterprises to realize improved economies of scale.

It is basically within our role to ensure that we advise them so that they can utilize these funds accordingly and at the same time ensure that they repay as required by law” noted Lagat.

County Enterprise loans normally attract an annual interest rate of 5 per cent.

Principal Credit officer Domtilla Birgen was among the officers present during the training.
