Governor Johnathan Bii has assured the cooperative societies of his full support to empower the residents by introducing easy and affordable credit financing development funds through capacity development and resource mobilization.

We’re planning and strategizing on how to break through in the business world, campaigning for and bringing together more cooperatives to ensure capacity building and sustainability to efficiently grow productivity and attract a global market for our manufacturers,” said Bii on Tuesday when he officiated the start of a two-day training on entrepreneurial skills for leaders of cooperative societies across the county.

The officials will be trained on sustainable planning, saving strategies, and best practices in leadership and performance management, among other things.

The County through the department has already disbursed loans totalling Ksh 593 million to 199 cooperative societies.

County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Cooperative and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto expressed her gratitude for Governor’s support to the cooperatives saying this will spur the economic and trade growth in the county youths, women, and farmers inclusively benefitting from the enterprise development fund.

As a department, we intend to inform many people up to the interior areas to come on board to ensure everybody across 30 wards in the county benefits from the funds that will foster an improvement to the livelihoods,” She added.

Cheruto, moreover, challenged the cooperators to work the extra mile in every activity they do to increase their loan limit of the funds to enable them to grow their enterprises more efficiently.

Acting Chief Officer Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Nixon Cheplong pledged his support in ensuring available administration assistance, leadership and governance skills, easy access to Enterprise Development Funds(EDF), efficiency in cooperative, accountability, encouraging all cooperators to be ready to utilize the training opportunity, get acquainted with knowledgeable and perform better results.
