The Ministry of Tourism and the County Government’s Department of Tourism are exploring possible strategies to harness tourism and grow revenue through attraction.
Deputy Governor Eng John Barorot, hosted officials from Tourism Fund as the two institutions work under a collective effort to market and advertise local tourism.
Speaking during the call, Eng Barorot said that the administration is working to ensure Eldoret city is clean and the environs are beautified to appeal to and attract.
Uasin Gishu County has got magnanimous resources that are so attractive among them being the City marathon that is held every year, Sosiani river which we intend to clean and beautify, City Market whose construction is underway, industries that we are looking forward to improve, waterfalls, hills, the cultural tourism like mursik (fermented milk), and of course the good weather,” he said.
Tourism Fund chair, Samson Some, said the organization is willing to work with the County Government in promoting tourism to realize an international market that will boost revenue collection.
Trade and Tourism Executive, Eng Martha Cheruto, emphasized the need to improve training facilities that will help improve service delivery and attraction of more market opportunities.
“As a county, we wish to participate in the international trade marketing and expos for local commodities and productions that will see our County’s economy grow,” said the executive.
Tourism Fund acting Chief Executive Officer, David Mwangi, highlighted their commitment in working with the County and the North Rift Economic Bloc to spur the tourism sector.
