County Executive Committee Member for the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development Mr Anthony Sitienei has affirmed his department’s focus on upgrading and giving a new face lift to the County’s Central Business District and the Urban areas within the county soon.

In consultation with expertise from the Chief Officer Housing and Urban Development Mr Julius Koech, they noted that there was need to improve the existing roads, round abouts in town, put a stop to development of unauthorized structures, increase footpaths and encourage residents to maintain the town clean at all time.

“We want to make sure we improve the outlook of our town that soon is set to be elevated to a city by undertaken beautification projects and increasing the green spaces. We pride in our town and its our collective responsibility to bring it to a level of a modern city now,” said Mr. Sitienei

“As a department we also commit to resolve issues of Land tenure. We also intend to undertake several projects including construction of residential homes for Governor, Deputy Governor and the Speaker. In preparation for the upcoming devolution conference in August we are constructing a drive way road at sports club,” he noted.

“We also want to ensure that the Department works in synergy. Let’s put our ideas together, consult on ways to increase our revenue streams and be the formidable team,” he added.

Chief Officer Mr. Julius Koech, noted that the Department will be undertaking the Affordable Housing project that would see Uasin Gishu residents own homes.

“We are coming up with ideas to address issues on land rates collection, Development control, rent arrears and also the general welfare of staff,” Mr. Koech said.

Also present in the meeting were Legal Advisor Adv. Ronald Kiprop, Director Physical Planning Mr. Daniel Koech, Director Housing Ms. Beatrice Menjo, Deputy Director Mr Jacktone Kiprop, Administrator Mr Sila Boit, Principal Housing Mr. Isaac Sang among other officers.
