The County Government of Uasin Gishu, Department of Health Services in partnership with ElsMed Healthcare solutions is working towards the realization of quality health care as envisioned in Governor Jonathan Bii’s Manifesto.
While visiting Huruma Sub County Hospital in Huruma Ward, Turbo sub-county County Executive for Health Services, Dr. Sam Kotut, said the County Government is committed to getting services closer to mwananchi.
We care on the residents’ livelihoods and health is a priority in Governor Bii’s government,” said Dr Kotut.
Chief Executive Officer for ElsMed Healthcare Solutions, Yaron Ferachi, stated the need to enhance knowledge, equipment and diagnostic, affordable pharmaceuticals, managing the samples delivery and fully monitoring sampling systems.
“The results will be processed directly and sent back to the doctor because they will contain telemedicine solutions and innovative solutions that will be presented, this will start in march.
… we aim to improve and save lives, we will have a lot of logistics centres for the drones to collect and deliver samples and Uasin Gishu is lucky to have Siemens implement the process,” says Yaron.
The drones are 3m in size, 25kgs weight, have rechargeable batteries and can as well fly at night at speed of 80km/hr when carrying capacity weight. It is completely autonomous, safe and can be controlled on where to land; they tolerate very strong winds.
The residents through the Kiplombe Ward Member of County Assembly, Gilbert Lagat, thanked the County Government for the initiative as it will ease access to health services.
The multi-sectoral team has already launched plans with the Kenya Civil Association Authority to acquire drone licenses and permits.
Present also were Sebastian Ferrae, head of strategy at Siemens Heallhirees, Neeraj Bansal Global (Head of Services Wingcopter), Chief Officers, Dr Paul Wangwe (Clinical Services) and Mrs Joyce Sang (Promotive and Preventive Health).
