KAPKURES FARMERS BENEFIT FROM KCSAP PROGRAM

As part of efforts to fulfill Governor Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development blue print, Agriculture CECM Edward Sawe on Thursday presided over the launch of distribution of Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture (KCSAP), Micro-project inputs in Kapkures Ward, Soy Sub County where over 90 farmers’ groups benefited from the inputs that included Fertilizers as well as farm machinery such as chaff cutters.

Speaking during the event, CECM Sawe assured of the Government’s commitment to supporting farmers nothing that there is sufficient fertilizer for planting this season as well as affordable AI services for the dairy farmers.

Sawe also challenged farmers to make early preparations for the planting season so as to ensure the country has enough food.

Under the KCSAP program, Uasin Gishu Farmers have benefited from a variety of support estimated at a cost of Ksh.50 million.

KCSAP Coordinator Cosmas Lagat further says the third phase of the funds estimated at about Ksh21 million will soon be released to farmers.

Later, a team of the agricultural officers that included the CECM Agriculture, KCSAP coordinator, Area Chief, KCSAP staff and Agriculture/Livestock officers visited KCSAP- funded micro-project in Kapkures.
