The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Education, Technical Training, Gender, Social Protection and Culture led by Executive Dr.Janet Kosgei together with the Assembly’s Education Committee today held a consultative meeting on the Early Childhood Development Education School feeding Policy.
Speaking during the meeting, Education CECM Dr.Janet Kosgey noted that the County Integrated Development Policy(CIDP)has a school feeding programme that is in line with Governor Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo-Kumi Agenda.
Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration has been on the frontline on improving ECDE through Integrated e-learning, improvement of infrastructures and school feeding programme,” said Kosgey.
CECM Kosgey further said, “We saw the need of coming up with the policy that will guide the introduction of school feeding programme that is specific to milk to develop the policy.
We did the public participation to Sub-Counties and we were able to meet stakeholders and got their opinions on the school feeding programme and got the two documents including, stakeholders engagement and the policy itself.
Upon adopting the policy, it will improve better enrollment in schools, improve the nutrition of school children hence creating a healthy population, retention of children will add up and increase the farm market produce,” said Kosgey.
On his part, Assembly’s Education Committee Chair, Hon. Thomas Yego reiterated that the document is going to guide the implementation of an agenda in Education, especially the new programme and appreciated the good work that the department has put in place in line with Governor Bii’s vision and agenda that is going to implement the program.
I want to assure you that with the committee in charge of Education, we will give you maximum support and ensure everything that pertains to Education, we will work closely and give you full support, “said Yego.
Uasin Gishu Economic Advisor Philip Melly, County Attorney Stephen Lel, MCAs and County Directors were present.
