County Executive Committee Member for the Department of Youth and Sports Eng. Lucy Ngendo, has given reassurance of the County’s intention and commitment on 64 stadium completion.
Eng. Ngendo who was accompanied by Municipal Manager Mr.Tito Koiyet , contractor and the project implementation team, in a site visit of the ongoing construction of 64 stadium, said that the County leadership led by the Governor H.E Jonathan Bii Chelilim is looking into funding the project and completing it, to enable the people use the facility immediately.
We want this project completed soon, hence we ask the contractor to be on site with the relevant team and equipments to finish the project,” noted Eng. Ngendo.
Mr. Koiyet noted that the project so far is at 60 percent into completion and look forward to its functioning as Eldoret being a City of Champions is a sports centre well known in the Northrift, Kenya and beyond the boarders.
This is a world class stadium. It will have the presidential dais, lifts to ensure that the PWDs are catered for in accessing the dais and currently establishment of a basket ball pitch is ongoing,” said Mr. Koiyet.
Director Roads and public works Eng. Benjamin Kirongo assured the works were upto the required standards and the facilities provided by the stadium will be sufficient and of great quality.
In a rejoinder , Mr. Sila Terigin Director Communication, appreciated the effort put forth to ensure the stadium is completed as it would also open doors on talent. He noted that the Governor’s cup scheduled to be launched in a weeks time by H.E the Governor aims at raising sports awareness and the opportunities that are available for youth through sports, hence the presence of such a facility in the near future would be of great importance.
